The frog's tooth story

The Frog’s Tooth Winery began to take shape with the purchase of property in 1999 in the Salt Springs region of Copperopolis. With his sons and wife Pamela, Owner & Managing partner Larry Aderman built the main winery building in 2008. Later additions including a bridal suite, deck, outdoor pavilion and covered crush pad added to our ability to host camping events, weddings and parties. Over the years we have grafted numerous new varieties. In 2025 we budded 1,300 vines, and when fully mature we will have 8 reds and 4 whites to help us become almost exclusively estate grown.
Frog's Tooth Vineyards is near the abandoned town named for Madame Josephine Felix, and our Felix Hunt brand is a celebration of the rich history of the area.

Our philosophy
Our goal is to remain a boutique style winery while continually maintaining our consistent quality. Here's how we know before your palate knows....with the addition of Winemaker, Tana Cole in May of 2024, Frog's Tooth constantly monitors the quality of the vineyards and wines in barrel year round, making adjustments with our in-house lab and testing process. This blend of chemistry and creativity has already been rewarded with numerous medals including Golds at the San Francisco Chronicle 2025 and 2026, Calaveras Wine, and Orange County competitions.
Recent medals
During the last 2 year award cycles (2025-2026), Frog's Tooth has produced 10 wine varieties that have medaled in several different competitions. Of course several varieties were not ready for the award cycles, so stay tuned for more to come!

sustainability
Frog’s Tooth rigorously oversees vineyard health and fruit quality year-round, integrating sustainable practices including:
  • Composting grapes seeds and pomace
  • Organic yeast for fermentation
  • Drip and deficit irrigation
  • Water recycling
  • Removing fruit for ideal ripening
  • Owl boxes to help control pests
  • Solar panels to reduce energy costs

These actions and more enhance biodiversity and preserve the environment, ensuring excellence from vine to bottle.
To make the grapes happy (happy grapes make world-class wine) during the fermentation process, the "critically important" task of choosing a specific song to fit the occasion is a must! A few of the songs during the last harvest: Listen To The Music , Tutti Fruity, Come Together, Rhapsody in Blue, and Live And Let Die.

Larry aderman

Owner & Managing Partner
Larry & Pamela Aderman have been in the wine business with Frog's Tooth Vineyards & Winery for 25 years! Their interest started as casual tasters and escalated once they bought a second home in Murphys, CA in the Sierra Foothills. They were drawn to the local wine business which was just beginning to bubble. In 1999, Larry submitted funds, secured partners/investors and financing to startup a winery.
As salespeople for the organization, Larry & Pamela set out to build a successful wine club, called the Frog Pond, and went on to establish a loyal customer list of wine shops, restaurants and grocery stores.

Tana Cole

Winemaker
From soil health to barrel health, and from buds to bottle, Tana Cole owns the holistic winemaking process. Growing up in the South meant being surrounded by agriculture. From peas to peaches, something was always being harvested and the fascination with chemistry and creativity began. Partnering with fantastic mentors in Napa, Sonoma, and Lodi, she has crafted favorites such as Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Methode Champenoise, Ancient Vine Zinfandel, Alicante Bouschet, and Carignane.
